Assessment and Evaluation Department


 

 

INTRODUCTION

Language learning can be both effective and fun.The art of teaching,however also includes assessing and evaluation students' performance in the classroom. The Assessment and Evaluation Department plans,designs and conducts courses on current and alternative ELT assessment and evaluation modes and practices for primary and secondary schools teachers based on sound educational theories,research-driven TESL methodology and effective classroom practice.

To make ELT practitioners assessment literate.

 

OBJECTIVES

  • To plan and conduct ELT courses on school-based assessment.
  • To plan and conduct courses on current and alternative assessment modes and practices.
  • To evaluate and adapt international ELT assessment systems for use in Malaysian education system.
  • To develop various research-bases ELT assessment and evaluation instrument and system.
  • To offer consultancy services on ELT assessment and evaluation.

    Profile
    As an educator for more than thirty years in primary, secondary schools and teacher training institutions, I am passionate about impacting students’ lives through meaningful and quality learning of the English language. Thus, I am committed to creating academic platforms for English teachers to professionally develop and equipping them with 21st century skills so that they are empowered to help students master the English language to succeed in the revolutionary world.

    Profile
    I am currently the Head of Unit of the Assessment and Evaluation Department, English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC), Ministry of Education Malaysia where I train in-service English Language Teachers in Malaysia. My research interests include adult education, multicultural education, English literacy, sociocultural studies and narrative inquiry.

    I have been in the teaching profession for the past twenty years. I hold a Teaching Certificate in English Studies from Maktab Perguruan Kota Bharu, Kelantan. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Education (TESL) from the University of Malaya and a Master’s degree in Arts (English Literature) from the same university.

  4. EZATUL HANIZAM BINTI MOHAMED FAUZI

    Profile
    I began teaching in 2000 and taught in two secondary schools namely SMK Convent Bukit Nanas, Kuala Lumpur and SMK Tunku Ampuan Najihah, Seremban. In 2009, I served at Kolej Matrikulasi Negeri Sembilan as an English lecturer and was promoted as the English Unit Head in 2012. I have eight years experience as a national examiner for LPM, a team leader for two years and five years as an examiner for MPM. I joined ELTC in August 2015.
