Research and Development Department


Introduction

The Research and Development Department in ELTC is dedicated to enhance ELT practices amongst teachers through research studies. In order to develop the culture of research amongst teachers the department offers Action Research for primary and secondary ELT teachers. In addition to this the department conducts school based research that aims to provide findings that can inform the progress and effectiveness of programs run by the Ministry of Education. To this aim, the department has conducted a number of research studies in areas of KSSR, SBA and ELT Performance in schools. The department hopes to be able to impact teaching practices through providing credible and quality data in the area of ELT.

Objectives

  • To provide consultancy services on research in management, trainer training and teaching and learning in the ESL context
  • To inculcate a research culture among English language teachers, teacher trainers and managers
  • To enhance classroom practice and trainer training through research
  • To build and maintain database of ELT research studies  and findings
  • To publish and disseminate ELT research publications

    Profile
    My career began in the interior of Pahang before moving to Kuala Lumpur. I have experience teaching in primary and secondary schools before being a teacher trainer with ELTC. I am self-motivated and resourceful in whatever I do which helps me in my current job. Currently, I design courses, write modules and conduct courses for the institution.

    Profile
    I am a lecturer in the Research and Development Department in English Language Teaching Centre. I have started teaching since 1989. I have experience in training the Specialist Courses and Project Based Learning. I have also facilitated the online components for Specialist Certificate in Literacy Development for the Lower Primary Students and the Read to Write Course.

    Profile
    I began my teaching career in 2007. I have taught in three Primary Schools; SK Ulu Poi, Kanowit, Sarawak, SK Taman Dusun Nyior, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and SK Palong 4 (F), Gemas, Negeri Sembilan. In 2014, I joined Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Jempol dan Jelebu as an English Language FasiLINUS Officer. I have joined ELTC in November 2016.
